   iKey 2000/2032
¿How does it work?
Before the launching of Windows 2000, the interactive session Start utilized the basic mechanism of Windows or the challenge Answer Mechanism of Windows NT, with authentication based on User Name and Password. Now with the Network Active Directory of Windows 2000, it is possible to perform a Logon with Smart Card, so, you can use the iKey for User Certificates and Private Keys. During its functioning, Windows recognizes the attached key in the USB port like an alternative to the Standard sequence ‘Ctrl-Alt-Supr’ Logon. In this case, the PIN of the key will be requested to the user which is stored on the key. The user can move over the Network and use any work station. The systems and the users can be distributed in a flexible way.

The iKey 1000 series and iKey 2032 from Rainbow Technologies can be used with Windows 2000 Servers to add a powerful Two Factor Authentication to Logon to Windows.

iKey 2032 supports another security functions:

Microsoft Service Certificate:
This allows to set up one or more Certificate Authorities (CA) from Microsoft or Third Parts as Baltimore or Entrust. These CA support the issue and the revocation of Digital Certificates. The certification services are integrated in the Active Directory of Windows.

PKI integration on Windows 2000 does not replace the existing mechanisms in Windows of Domain-Authorization. However, it allows the Application Management of Public Key in all the Work Stations and Windows Servers connected to an Active Directory Network in Windows 200. (E.g. Windows NT Systems and Windows 98 used as Work stations.
